Ayuh! went online Wednesday, March 28, 2007. April 2007: We had well over 2,000 visitors and almost 200 ads placed in our first month online! . . . thanks Maine! The month of May promises to be a banner month as the word gets out around Maine! May 2007: We're up to over 6,000 total visitors and over 600 total ads posted! June 2007: Up to 10,495 total visitors and 807 total ads posted! July 2007: A total of 16,189 visitors and 1129 ads posted to date! August 2007: A total of 23,805 visitors and 1481 ads posted to date! WHO RUNS AYUH? Ayuh is the creation of native Maine resident, Stan Hallett. Born in Augusta, Maine in 1951, Stan currently lives in Buxton, Maine with his wife of 25 years and 3 of his 6 daughters. "I purchased my first PC about 1987, it was a IBM 386 with a 80MB HD and 2MB of RAM. I learned DOS and loaded most programs using the old 5 ¼" floppies. The first versions of MS Windows was available, but 2MB wasn't enough to run it. I ran a public BBS (Bulletin Board System) called Luigi's and I was on the Internet as soon as we had local dial up access in Maine (early 90's)". Since then he had designed and created countless websites, owned and operated several web-based businesses including domain hosting. He has created many commuinty related sites many of which are still active.

WHY ARE WE HERE?

We just got tired of all the costs and restrictions involved with trying to get the word out locally about items for sale, events, jobs, community announcements, etc. Newspaper sites want you to pay for an ad in the regular print classifieds before they will post your ad online. Other sites want payment for basic ads and then charge additional charges for upgrades like adding more than one image, etc.. Some even charge for subscriptions you to be able to see the all the ads.

There were a few local free classifieds, but none were well run, well designed, or had any real quantity or quality of content, even after years of operation. Most were unmoderated and contained many test ads. The only seemingly successful classified ad sites are filled with so much advertising it makes the site difficult to navigate. That won't happen on Ayuh!

There are other sites, like a well known world-wide classified site. However it is not what one would consider a family site or child-safe. It's user moderated, supposedly governed by site rules. However what happens is lots of good ads get deleted, while pornography and "adult" ads are allowed to proliferate. That won't happen on Ayuh!.

Ayuh has most of the same features. We don't have any t-shirts yet, but we got stickahs! (neat oval decals for your car or truck)

HOW CAN WE DO IT FOR FREE?

Ayuh is owned and operated by a long time web hobbyist (addict would be more accurate). It is not our bread-and-butter work, therefore we do not need to charge anything. We do offer display ad advertising to sponsors, but no more than the display ads already shown. Our access and classified ads will be free, always.

No charges for subscriptions. No charges to post ads. No charges for ad upgrades. All ads are free to post and free to view.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

All we ask in return is that you help us by placing ads for your items for sale, your services, your community announcements, your help wanted ads, free for the taking ads and just about any other kind of ad that you can think of.

Secondly, we need you to help us get the word out to your friends, co-workers, family and anyone you can. Everyone we talk to wants Ayuh to be a success, but Ayuh will not be successful without you.
